Nicosia is a curious city split in two since some years. The North is the Turkish part, and the South, the Cyprus part. If you want to cross the border, you have to show your passport and cross the Green Line, a demilitarised zone. The Cyprus part is pretty but it miss a bit charm if you compare with the other part. However, the turkish part, is easily recognised by the architecture, the tight streets, the street food, the mosques ... There is a like a kind of authenticity. One nice place, this is the Bibliotheque Restaurant located near the ancient cathedral converted in mosque : Selimiye Mosque. if you reach the rooftop of this restaurant, you will discover the city. The view is really amazing although the decoration of the place is also nice.
Larnaca is a very quiet city in the South part of Cyprus. The landscape is similar of the South of Turkey. It's a mix of hills and mountains. It's a mediterranean spirit. Spring is perfect time to enjoy this place. The major part of the people speaks well english. The city is nice and easy to visit by walk. One day is enough to cross the downtown from the North to the South. You can visit mosque, churchs and old streets. The promenade avenue along the beach is a nice place to have a coffee or a lunch. The Larnaca Salt Lake, located on the airport road, is a beautiful place for the sunset. If you want to visit and enjoy the country side, you can spend one day with this company "Aeolos Travel". They will guide you by 4x4 across a Safari Tour in the Trodos mountains. The guide of this tour is awesome and the tour is really nice.
