The city of Budapest is divided by the Danube river. The main downtown is in the Pest part, the other one is Buda. First, it's a good idea to go to the Citadella and discover the city from the top. You will see every place from here : Chain Bridge, Hungarian Parliament, the Fisherman's Bastion ... From the Citadella, you can walk through the pedestrian ways in the forest. The Fisherman's Bastion is not far. The funicular is also nice to reach the Buda Castle. The Pest part is also rich about the historical heritage. The must see is the Hungarian Parliament. However, you need to come early if you want to avoid the long queue. A good district with shops and restaurant is Belvaros located near the Hungarian National Museum.
